There are a total of 300 beds at HEP, with separate facilities serving homeless adults and families with children. HEP operates specialized programs to assist veterans, persons with disabilities, children and families with special needs. Clients may progress through the appropriate programs as they work toward their goals for self-sufficiency. HEP programs serve about 2,000 people each year.

Individuals 

Overnight Shelter Program

  • HEP operates 25 overnight shelter beds for chronically homeless adult men and women.
  • Provides up to 30 days of temporary housing, food, clothing, and support services.
  • Referrals are accepted around the clock from Pinellas County Homeless Street Outreach Teams
  • Upon discharge, clients move through HEP’s continuum of shelter and housing as they progress toward self-sufficiency.

Emergency Housing

  • HEP operates 75 emergency shelter beds in a dormitory setting for single adults, plus 8 one-bedroom family shelter efficiency apartments.
  • Provides up to 90 days of temporary housing, food, clothing and supportive services.
  • Intake assessment identifies individuals with emergency and urgent care needs so immediate medical intervention can take place. Through individualized case management, clients work on their Individual Service Plan to address various health, legal, family, and employment issues

Transitional Housing

  • The Fairburn Apartments provide a new and modern supportive group living for up to 40 veterans with up to 24 months of housing and support services.
  • Group Homes located in a residential neighborhood provide single adults with up to 24 months of housing and support services
  • Beds are located in various houses throughout the HEP campus
  • Case management services assist clients with achieving goals pertaining to employment, independent living, legal issues, increased skills and income, medical, mental health and substance abuse treatment services.

Permanent Supportive Housing

  • Baty Villas Apartments provide sixteen single family apartments with programs and services to assist families with disabilities.
  • Carlton Home provides up to 8 adults with long term group living and specialized services to assist persons with disabilities.
  • Independence Square Apartments provide 16 single room apartments with programs and services to assist persons with disabilities.
