Services
Many families and individuals come to HEP lacking access to everything from personal hygiene to medical care. With community partnerships and personalized case management, HEP is able to provide a variety of needed support services.

Supportive Housing Overlay Program (SHOP)

SHOP is an integrated, recovery-oriented system of care to prevent and reduce chronic homelessness.  This program assists homeless individuals with serious psychiatric conditions or mental and substance abuse disorders.

In partnership with Baycare Behavioral Health and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration’s (SAMHSA) Center for Substance Abuse Treatment.

Research shows that drumming accelerates physical healing, boosts the immune system, and produces feelings of well-being. Drumming workshops are just one example of SHOP’s innovative approach to treating mental disorders.

SHOP-at-a-Glance

  • On-site intensive individualized treatment and support services include:
    - On-site mental health and substance abuse treatment
    - Crisis counseling
    - Housing services
    - Medication management
    - Employment services
    - Daily living skills
    - Self-help programs
    - Parenting skills
    - Coordination of care
     
  • 20% of the program's capacity is reserved for veterans and their families, including veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan
